There's a report on the online Soton Echo that Neil has signed for Brockenhurst for next season.
A bit of a shame as I think Neil was improving throughout the season.

thats really dissapointing news i think, as you said doug neil was improving troughout the season and he had a couple of terrific games near the end.
poole should be aiming to keep young players like neil at the club for the future years...
what does everyone else think?

Never realy made an impression on me. Besides I think with the influx of new signings he would have struggled to hold down a place

I think its a shame that Neil is leaving, he certainly made some great saves last season and I think he will improve the more he plays.
Any idea who will be in goal for Poole this season ?
Any more signings Steve ?

None of the new signings I've heard about are goal keepers, so, at this point, we're left with Paul Spillane (assuming he has signed).
I don't know what plans Paul has, but given he only played 17 games last season, one less than Neil incidentally, it suggests we do need to sign an experienced 'keeper.

is this the young lad who played most of the season? if so this is a big loss to the club as he would be a big prospect for the future. i saw the Fa VASE game against willand rovers and he was outstanding.

Hi
Yes - Neil did play in that game.
Thanks for adding your views - it's interesting to hear from a neutral observer.

Mark,
See the thread about new signings it seems one of our new signings may be ex-bournemouth keeper Jimmy Glass

Just to confirm the signing of Lee Mitchener.
Lee was with me at Xchurch as a 16 year old, and was snapped up by Hamworthy Utd also represented the county side... and was part of their squad that won the DPL........so this is a great asset to the PTFC.
He is a great shot stopper and commands his area, which he should do being 6ft 3ins, Lee is now just 18 and will be one for the future. Good cover for spillsie.
Also Ryan Park who is 16years of age, last year Ryan was with Ashdown FC, Ryan comes from Blanford and at the age of 15years played for stourpaine last term, he is the best keeper around at that age at the moment and i beleive he will be this seasons under 18 County keeper following in the steps of Lee Mitchener.
