This season we have seen just how lucky we are to have talented people at the club. The playing staff have produced consistently outstanding performances, and I for one believe they should be proud of their achievements this season. Tommy, his coaches and back room staff, have had a great deal to do with the great performances. They too should be proud of their achievements. Many thanks, to you all, for the enjoyment you have provided me each Saturday. Now it's time for the supporters to play their part.........we should look at providing Tommy with more resources. Put your thinking caps on.............

Well said slepe12! I did notice that the attendance against the Poppies on Saturday was higher than two thirds of the Step 4 crowds and better than a number at Step three so the potential is there. Nonetheless, I agree wth every word slepe12 has written. Tom Killick, the rest of the coaching staff and the players have given us an exciting and enjoyable season no matter what happens now. And you are right to mention the back room people slepe12 and we shouldn't forget the directors as well.

Short term I make a point of spending a few quid at every outlet at home games, from a burger to a pint, to a programme, golden goal etc, and feel that if supporters when possible can do this it will obviously help in the short term. Long term will need marketing strategies which I am sure are in-hand. From what I have seen so far Poole Town's owners and directors come across as a very professional concern, which is a big plus for forging links in the community.

Some money raising ideas; 1. Car boot sale on Sunday mornings on the field adjacent to the pitch, or in the main car park. 2. Classic and American car show in the summer. 3. Once the club have a settled site for the ground a "Buy-A-Brick" to help raise money for construction. 4. A much larger publicity board advertising games at Tatnam. 5. E-bay selling, Supporters donating small items to sell on e-bay. 6. regular leaflet drops in the close vicinity stating PTFC's fixture list. 7. An open invite to a different youth team football club for every home game. ------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking forward to Downton!!

Don't know what you think, but surely playing some games on Sunday at 3pm will get some support from nearby AFC Bournemouth?!

I heard the same rumour. On a seperate issue I know some of the supporters on this forum have written in letters to Poole Council encouraging them for their support to the club. If anyone can post up a format of such a letter I would be willing to send a copy in. I'm not sure what to write to them. Thanks.

As somebody has raised this topic of 'Supporters, raise our Game!' I'd just like to add the following:-
Two of the easiest ways of helping the Football Club is:-
1) Become a member of Poole Town Football Supporter's Club The Supporter's Club has been running for about 7-8 years now and we are always looking for new members. The sole responsibility of the Supporter's Club is to support the Football Club in any way that we can. It's only £5 to join for a full year's membership.
2) Join the 100 Club. This has been successfully running for over 5 years now and has raised over £6000. It is currently our biggest money earning venture and there are still numbers available that are not sold. It is £1 a week per number and you can have as many numbers as you wish. It can be done even easier by setting up a standing order for just £4.33 a month for a single number. Prizes are £40 for 1st and £10 for second every week with a 50% rollover if the number picked is not sold. It's a great way to support Poole Town Football Club - even if you don't win at least you know your money is going to the Club - it has financed many donations over the years which has gone towards things like important medical supplies, the TV in the bar area etc. Because not ever number is sold we are NOT fulfilling our profit potential - every new number we sell from now on however will be pure profit for the Club. If we have all 100 numbers sold that would be over £200 profit per month! Not much you might think but it all adds up. Importantly it also allows the Supporter's Club to invest in ALL the merchandise you can buy at the ground currently.
So there are just two very easy ways to help out. An email to me at snb@poole-town.fsnet.co.uk and I'll send out the relevant forms.
All the other ideas mentioned are good as well. Taking one as an example we did have two members of the Supporters Club taking part in regular car boots purely for Poole Town down at the Stadium early on a Sunday morning. Haven't got the figures to hand but over a couple of years they must have raised over £1000 from stuff kindly donated by other supporters. Rightly the two members involved are 'having a break' from it at the moment so we are always on the lookout for other individuals to take up the reins on this.................
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Steve for this information.
Maybe the 100 Club and the Supporters Club should have a higher profile at the home matches ie announce on the public address the Winners names for the 100 Club each home game. Announce where membership forms can be obtained etc. Same with the Golden Goal. Also a Supporters Club notice board etc in the Bar with info about Fund raising etc and Contacts. I think also a Supporters Club link on the Website could be good as well. This would make supporters aware of more of the happenings.
Further it would be nice to fully surround the ground with advertising boards, selling this space would bring in revenue and make the ground feel more enclosed.

Concrete may have a point and is certainly allowed an opnion. Someone else said to me earlier in the season that another crack at the FA Vase might be a good thing and that's something Town coudn't do next year if promoted. However, I'd still like promotion(s) asap. It would be nice to pick up a daily paper up here in Morecambe and be sure of seeing the Dolphin's score. Incidentally, when I came to Morecambe Poole were one league higher than Morecambe (the 'Shrimps' by the way). Since then Morecambe have, effectively, gone up 2 leagues whilst the Town were going down by 5 or 6. I look forward to seeing Poole play Morecambe before I die!

Interesting point you raise "Concrete".
I'm just wondering, is your opinion based on....
The 2 - 0 defeat of Wimborne in August , or perhaps
The 4-3 defeat of Wimborne in November, or could it be
The single point currently between the 2 sides in the league, or even
The 3 goals better GD Wimborne currently enjoy ?
As for the club being one for the future, yes I supose being around since 1890 (hope that's right chaps) isn't that long really !!!!!
Here's to the rest of the season.

Hi, I only think wimborne will go up is because they have a great solid defence and a strong attack, anyway we will see on the 5th April who is the better team.

I've not seen Wimborne as yet, hope to put that right in the next few weeks . So far I feel AFC Totton set the bench mark for promotion, they look a very organised and professional outfit although they seem to have slipped lately. If we can take full advantage and turn them over on Saturday then we could be in with a good chance.Big plus for Poole is seeing Hogan back, he really played for the shirt at Downton. Top player!

People............can I refer you back to the original thread.
I am here on the Poole Town FC site because I'm a Poole Town supporter..........what Wimborne achieve or not is of little interest to me. Yes, they are a good side, so are Totton.
But so are we!! So come on, if we are looking to see the Dolphins move on, then lets discuss them!! A good start would be to applaud the contributions of Sean Hogan.........for me that guy epitomises all that is good about the club!! He plays with heart. Good for you Sean, hopefully you get to hear some of the praise you truly deserve.

Fund raising idea; Raffle or bid on players shirts ? This would be OK, better still if the shirts were named. Presumably, you mean after the season is completed. ;D

I heard a little whisper they might auction the shirts at the end of the season, Signed by each player.
Now shall I bid on Rico's shirt or should I bid on another one :scratchchin: ;D
