A winning start for KJ as the reserves beat Gillingham 3-1. Appeared to be cruising at 2-0 before the visitors pulled a goal back from a penalty (although the keeper appeared to be fouled in the build up). After this we seemed to lose our shape a bit and Lee Mithcener had to make a couple of great saves to keep us in the lead. It was a relief when Dave Linton scored to make it 3-1 which was the final score, although Town had to hang on as the referee played over 10 minutes of stoppage time.
Anthony Warrington started up front and had a couple of early chances although he still looks a little way off of match fitness. His striking partner Jay Rose (formerly of Poppies)had a great game and Im surprised that he hasnt yet been called up to the 1st team with our recent striker injuries.
Of the youngsters, Lee Mitchener made a couple of great saves, Paul Bayston and Dave Linton played very well at the back (Dave went up front towards the end) and Dave Sturgess again played well in midfield.
Well done lads, keep up the good work

I agree it was a good result. I am surprised no mention of the performance from Matty Hayfield and Garry Morris, who in my opinion worked extremely hard for the youngsters. Indeed after KJ had made all his subs Gary recieved a very nasty gash to his foot but refused to come off. Its pleasing to see 1st team players prepared to work with the younger players. I felt Anthony Warrington still lacked fitness, prehaps he should take a leaf out of Matty and Gary's book. I thought Paul Bayston and Dave Linton at the back played very well. Alot of people who said we wouldn't do well at this level with so many youngsters may well be proved wrong on this performance, although there is along way to go, its still a good start. I would say to any of you who cant make the 1st team game next week, come on down to Tatnam as the reserves are home to Wimborne Res. Just a quick question to the committee there were over 70 spectators watching. Don't you think we should open the snack shop? Its all money to the club?
