Finished 3-0. Thats 12 goals shipped in the last 3 games, two of which were against teams below us. We have become an easy team to score against and This is relegation form. Not saying we are in danger, buts it's not pretty reading. Next seven fixtures; Hayes & Yeading (H), Salisbury (A), Hendon (A), Basingstoke (H), Winchester (H), Chesham (A), Plymouth Parkway (H). On current form we'd be lucky to get 3pts from that. Something has to give. We can't carry on like this. Yes the postponements haven't helped us at all, but we weren't exactly ripping up trees prior to that. I know I said let's give Matt till the end of the season, but if we get another hammering midweek questions have to be asked.

We look so soft atm, Tiverton and Hanwell clearly 2 teams who wanted it more and the defence went missing again, when is Max back?
Note to Toby Holmes instead trying fancy flicks trying to score when your team is losing smash the ball into the back of the net like your paid to!
Half the team look disinterested or would rather be at Dorchester.
1 positive great to see Harry Hutchinson back on the pitch today let's hope he stays there.
Do it all again Tuesday night 😂

Twenty two expecting a win, three a draw and no losses forecasted. Throw in an average score prediction of 2.69 to 0.92 it will come as no surprise that yet again point yields were very restricted once again, with all but overs65 (who gains three points for the 0-0 draw prediction) only earning the point for entering.

12 goals shipped in three games? To be fair, we were not setting the world alight under the old regime, so looking back to earlier in the season with rose tinted glasses does not help. On a positive note, we still have games in hand and we should be safe from relegation. However this is relegation form. Realistically we need about 6 points for safety but where are those points coming from? I look forward to Peter Leppington’s match report. It is there for you now John!

Unfortunately admission fees only grant a right of entry otherwise home supporters would all have been entitled to a refund after recent performances. Maybe it's time we compared the entertainment and facilities available for our money over the other side of the river. 60yrs+ loyalty seem to count for nothing to those who have recently taken over control of our club. Head and heart are in constant battle at the moment.

When I saw the team I couldn't see a defence, if you drop your centre half surely you have to replace him .Rose,Wright,Tshaka, that's not a defence.

Reinforcements on the way Grandad! A summit meeting is needed for ALL those interested in seeing PTFC realize it’s potential on and off the field We need a strategy to get us out of Tatnam and to the NLS! When it seems darkest That is when the dawn will break for the only semi Pro team in the BCP We deserve a lot better than what we are getting!

We certainly deserve better than our present management team have brought in. The performance so far of those new "recruits", hardly inspires belief that there will be any improvement in team performance. I.M.O. the abilities of those that replaced those that left, is woefully short and that includes the management team. I was no fan of T.K. but the whole saga was badly handled by the BoD and now we are seeing the consequences.

Let’s try and put some perspective on this. While the sacking of TK was unpopular amongst many there were also those that felt a change was needed as things had become stale, lack lustre and all a bit matey for those in the click. Without doubt it could have been handled better but is there really a nice way to sack someone? Let’s also remember none of this was Matt’s fault. He merely accepted the opportunity to take over from a PT legend which was never going to be an easy task particularly as Tommy had so many friends and was so highly thought of at the Club, He was also dealt a massive blow when four key players decided to walk out on their contracts, not only letting down their team mates in the process but also the many fans and admirers they had. May I suggest their decision has had the biggest impact on our season and not TK’s leaving. No Club could have overcome that no matter whom you are. It was an impossible task to replace the quality of Corby, JD and Spetch but to lose arguably the best keeper in the league was a bitter pill. Players of that quality are just not available once the season has started so at least give Matt the opportunity to recruit on a level playing field during the off season. True we got very lucky that Max was available and then what happens? He gets a long term injury; another massive blow to the Club. Add to this all of the cancellations we have had this season and it has made it so hard for the players to build any kind of momentum and put a run together. Now all of a sudden we are playing catch up, which itself is never easy, and playing two matches a week. Remember these are part time players not seasoned full timers with many having physical day jobs. You can clearly see tiredness is having an impact after such a long layoff and it will take a little more time for players to become fully match fit again. Agreed results and performances have been very disappointing since the restart but now is the time when they really need our support. I don’t believe for one minute any player goes onto the pitch without caring or wanting to do their best. Like many teams do at times, they are just going through a rough patch at the moment but I for one think Matt is more than capable as are the players and believe they will soon get back to winning ways.

Maybe there is an element of truth in what you say, perhaps it had gone a little stale & perhaps thr sun was setting under TK's stewardship. But after nearly 20 years of service did he deserve to be cast off in that manner? If you decide to make a monumental decision like this, the time has to be nigh on perfect, this was far from it. We were not struggling at the foot of the table, granted results had been a little mixed, but nothing like the form of late. The decision utterly destabilised the team and has subsequently completely derailed our season. Yes we have had postponements but that would have happened anyway whether Tom or Matt was in charge. If Tom was going to go, this should have been done either before the season started or end of the current campaign. Personally, i feel Matt is a hugely underwhelming appointment, wasn't doing anything at Bashley to show he was good enough for a club with ambitions to return to the NLS. We are in this mess because the BOD have put us here. This is on them.

There is still a good team there let's hope this is a blip and results start picking up soon, the defence is concerning but this new signing was only playing national league couple of weeks ago so hope he helps shore things up back there. We can't change the past what's done is done so let's get behind the boys and hope things turnaround.

Totally agree the timing could have been far better and should have been done before the start of the season but it wasn’t. After a big investment in the squad budget the expectation was that we simply had to get promoted this season. Early season form under TK was poor and underwhelming with, quite frankly, some dull football. Anyone that thinks otherwise were watching with rose tinted glasses. Yes we were never going to be in danger of getting relegated but likewise we were also unlikely to get promoted playing the way we were. After a big investment and with such high expectations the BoD clearly felt they had to react and make a big decision to try and salvage the season. In an ideal world I’m sure even the BoD would have preferred to have done it differently but they chose to do it early to give us a fighting chance. Sadly, in football and business in general, there is no place for loyalty and sentimentality. Ask the players who walked out. Did they show loyalty towards the Club and particularly the fans? No, none what so ever. Easy for us fans to judge but it’s not our money. Tommy was clearly given a target for the season but was sadly falling short. Clearly, quite rightly, people will argue that it hasn’t worked under Matt’s leadership but he can only deal with the hand he was been dealt with. At the moment this is not his team, it’s the one he inherited minus four key players. As already mentioned that was a massive blow to our ambitions that even the BoD probably didn’t foresee happening. I have to say, so far, Matt’s signings have been underwhelming but again I will judge his recruitment when the playing field is level and not just when he is left with scraps! I know, having spoke with several of the players, they talk highly of him, his training and his professionalism. General opinion is that he is a very good manager and surely the players are in a better position to judge than us? Understandable there is a lot of frustration and anger amongst fans atm as we are performing badly and far from looking like a playoff team but one look at the table will tell you we are still well in the mix and now is not the time to think the season is over. In a season of many ups and downs there is still a fighting chance and the signing of Staunton shows the BoD and the management are not yet ready to throw in the towel.

Harsh to say early season form was poor, underwhelming yes, but to make a judgement call like that after less than a quarter of the season gone was knee jerk. Season should have been give to TK, The decision to sack him unceremoniously has proven to be poor. Getting Staunton in is a start, but I fear the horse has bolted.

Why this continual gaslighting of everyone that "things had gone stale" and "we were lacklustre"? I'm far from a happy clapper but if anyone can unequivocally prove to me that was the case I'd love to hear it.
It's been pointed out elsewhere that we only lost 3 of our last 26 games with TK in charge (and 1 of those was a dead rubber against Swindon when we had already sealed the playoffs). That is basically title winning form and hardly a sign of a team gone stale. People of course have the right to feel that way but it simply doesn't bear out when you look at the results.
I've also seen it said that "the defence was getting old and needed a refresh". Only 2 sides conceded less goals than we did last season, they both got promoted. Plus we started pretty poorly and were much better, as the results suggest, in the second half of the season. Indeed after Christmas only Weston had a better defence than we did in this division and they walked away with the title. So depending on the time period we either had the 2nd or 3rd best defence in the division.
This season hadn't started superbly, granted, but we were one spot outside of the play-offs, at that point if anyone on the BoD is unhappy with how things are, they say to the manager "things need to be better, you have x games to get us into the top 3 or we're going to look to change things". Everyone knows where they stand, including any players with a close affinity to the manager. As it was, Andy admitted that he pulled the trigger early because he was having an operation and would be away from the club for a few weeks, and then appointed a mate who he had promised would get the job at some point! That made for bad feeling across the club, good players (and then Paul & Wendy Ayley) walking away, making things tough for the incoming manager, absolutely not Tubbs fault of course. As it goes, I don't feel let down by those who walked away, we're conflating having morals with letting the fans/team down, if the sacking is handled right none of that happens.
The argument that the side isn't Tubbs' own. Since he joined Tubbs has signed (either permanently or on loan) Lowes, Slade, Monk and Tshaka; all players he had at Bashley, his own players. We've also seen Evans, Bertrand, Coddington, Wilson, Harris, Dottin and Lloyd Thomas come in (and go) at various times.
The side is now his own, you don't have to have signed every single one of the 11 for it not to be. On Saturday he picked an attacking midfielder (according to his signing announcement) at left back whilst an actual left-back was sat on the bench. We had another midfielder playing at right-back whilst our best right-back was trying his best at centre-back, Dec Rose is a lot of (good) things, but a centre-back he is not. He also left one of the best strikers in the division on the bench and went with one up front at home against a team that started the day in the bottom 5.
In his post match interview on Saturday Tubbs said Hanwell came to be strong, physical and we could have done with more presence at the back. If only there was a strong, physical centre-back (club captain maybe) on the bench and a stronger, bigger left-back he could have brought on so the midfielder he had picked didn't get bullied and targeted! He now seemingly doesn't fancy Whisk in the side as his leader (maybe he sees him as Tommy's player) as the signing of Staunton shows. These are his decisions and he has to own them.
Just to be clear, like everyone else I want the team to be winning, of course we all do, but if people try to pretend things were bad before, to make us feel better about how things are now, it's just not true. The board have to bear responsibility for the way things were handled and the manager (and his team) now has to bear responsibility for the results.
Onwards, (and hopefully) upwards together. As someone somewhere (repeatedly) said "it's never been easy"!

Valid points ably put from both angles, but both confirming one very important point. Performance from players and management at the moment is currently falling far short of what long standing supporters have come to expect over the years.

Reading the article in the ECHO on Monday on Poole Town. I picked up on a number of statements from our Manager thus Quote ‘Bitterly frustrated probably more than what I was on Tuesday night because we started the game really well’ Maybe he was watching another game as we were 2 down early in the match! Quote ‘They came with a game plan’ We appeared that we did not. Quote ‘ We still want to try and play the way that we know we can like we did on Tuesday night’ Well we did and lost both matches. Quote ‘ The second half we came out and we created some really good chances’ Yes but chances don’t win games only goals do! Quote ‘Another day Tony Lee gets two or three’ (goals) Yes if he is in the team and on the pitch not as a substitute! So to sum up: goals win matches, do not leave your best goal scorer on the bench, do not make players play in their wrong positions and leave players who fit those positions on the bench. Have a game plan that works. I wish you a winning match on Tuesday and require to win further matches to be in the promotion chance.
