If not the current squad of players, then who? And where will they come from? Could we afford them? Yes this season's squad is clearly not good enough, if we want promotion. Which I do of course! We should only replace a player if we can get someone who is better than him. If he is better, will we be able to pay his wage, which will probably be higher, than the current lad. The one thing no one has factored into last weekend is the absolute nightmare of a journey up. We only had the briefest of stops at Fleet. Not the normal 30-40 minutes. This gives the players the opportunity to stretch their legs. But last Saturday they were cramped up on the coach for the best part of 4 hours. Also upon arrival at Hayes they weren't allowed to warm up on the pitch. Why I don't know. Don't know if this also applied to Hayes. So pre-match for us was 💩❗ And it showed why a proper warm up is so important. Playing a team who would go top, if they beat us, was always going to be tough. And our lack of being able to prepare properly (no fault of our own making) showed big time.

POOLE Town skipper Jamie Whisken is calling upon his side to “come back fighting” against Walton Casuals after their humiliation away at Hayes & Yeading last weekend.
Dolphins shipped six goals for the first time in eleven years as they lost 6-1 to the league leaders, highlighting just how far Poole were from their pre-season ambitions of a promotion hunt.
With the playoffs slowly looking unattainable, leader Whisken believes that Poole need to rectify their mistakes quickly as the season comes to a close.
In combination with a hopeful playoff push that will restart tomorrow against Walton (3pm kick-off), Poole also have a cup final with town rivals Hamworthy United on Tuesday.
Whisken told the Daily Echo: “It’s very tough to pick ourselves up from something like that, but we have no other choice than to come back fighting straight away.
“We’ve got tomorrow's game to rectify last week, and then we’ve got the Dorset Senior Cup final on Tuesday.
So, within a quick state of time, we’d like to think we can turn things back around again, but obviously it’s going to take an almighty push after last week, with people's confidence levels being where they are.
“But still, we’ve definitely got enough to do it.”
Since arriving from AFC Totton in 2013, Whisken and Poole have largely been involved at the top of end of the table, with the former Cherries youngster frustrated over how the season has panned out.
“We put the same expectations on ourselves that we have in previous years, we went into this season wanting to be up amongst it.
“Fair enough, we probably didn’t have the same budget we've had in previous years, but the players that have been there for a while still expect to be amongst it come the end of the season.
“That obviously is a tough one to take, but we're not (amongst it).
“I've said previously, it’s the first time I have been involved with the club in nine years that we've not had some of the fight for coming into the season.
“And that is tough to take, but we have to take it.
“We have to be ready, fingers crossed, to be at the right end of the table.”
In the aftermath of last weekend’s thumping, director Andy Rossiter told the Daily Echo that players at the club were “looking to play for their future at Poole Town”.
When asked how the dressing room reacted to the comments, captain Whisken revealed that he agreed with the sentiment behind Rossitor’s words.
“I found it quite refreshing to read to be honest,” he added.
“It might be fairly ruthless, but the people that it’ll effect are the people that maybe feel like their place is in doubt, and if they feel like that, then obviously they're not performing to a certain level that they need to at this club.
“I think we've had high standards over the years.
“Certain levels have been set.
“If you can’t come to those levels, maybe you shouldn’t be at the club.”

I'd appreciate it if the article wasn't just copy pasted on here, as it means there's less clicks and views on the article. The fewer views non-league gets, the more pressure there will be on me to stop covering non-league as it is viewed as wasted effort, which is something I am keen to avoid.
There's a certain amount of articles (eight I believe you can read) in a month, and if you sign up with an email it bumps that up to a fair few more (don't know off the top of my head).

I have to agree with choirboy Dave everyone seems to be getting on the back of the squad, I understand that performances have been inconsistent but as I have said previously it was only last year we were top of the league which was cancelled and in the meantime Hayes are signing all the players they can to get them promotion so are farnboro Salisbury Taunton and Chesham but we have not been able to do this due to finances we have not invested enough in the squad it’s all good loaning players but in this league not many do well. The other thing is what Dave said you can’t sit on a coach for 4 hours then not get a proper pre match warm up and be expected to perform at your best it only takes one or two players not to be at it in this league and you can struggle, all I would say is don’t be too hard on the squad we have some very good players but it’s just not going for them at the moment.COYD

Hopefully we will have a new stadium on the horizon (plans with the fans) in the coming months and a bigger budget for the summer 👍🏻

As I said we have some decent players, looking at some scores today I have to say yes we were poor against Hayes however as explained we did not have the right preparation, but if you are not buying your way out of this division because you don’t have the budget then you are always open to a bad result against the teams that can but what it shows is any one can beat anyone on their day look at Gosport shipping 7 today.

PTFC are reaping the whirlwind of a club metaphorically "spinning its wheels" Poor performance on the Field. We've heard that before so what is Mgt doing about it?? Attendance dropping' no surprise there! more important 'fan" interest is declining as mushroom syndrome has set in Yup we will pony up for our season tickets but OPTIMISM? ? Answers(not on a postcard!!) as to why you are full of hope for season 2022/2023

My optimism is the hope next season will actually happen. The way things are going on a much larger scale, is that things calm down & don't escalate in to full scale Armageddon.

Back page headline in Friday's Daily Echo "Non-League day tomorrow"- Inside. In fact, it was all about Jamal Lowe an AFC Bournemouth player and his own experiences of the non-league game. No mention of Poole, Wimborne or Hamworthy in either Friday or saturday editions or even if or where they were playing, on this the Non-league day". The "Daily Echo" has got progressively thinner while the price has gone up. Time to spread the local football news around and help to fill it up,

Having read Tommys article and listened to his thoughts on the Chesham game it seems like our season is finished however we did win the Dorset cup and as I have stated previously there is a good squad at Poole but we do need a few additions so I would like to suggest we could strengthen the back four with Josh Leslie smith and Calvin Brooks if we could get them, another midfielder and someone to play up front with Lee. We might have to take Marv back to play alongside Calvin in my opinion if we had the budget for these guys together with who Tommy wants to keep and maybe he has a few other additions he is thinking of. If we could do this for next season I feel we would be definite title contenders anyone else have any thoughts.COYD.

Thanks Jack for the latest article on Poole Town. Successful Poole sides in the recent past have been build on a solid water tight defence. This last season its been anything but that, just look at the goals against column in the league in fact this Poole defence has more holes in it than a sieve. No matter who the club signs close season unless this situation is rectified it will be the same again next season. (Give away goals, can't hold a lead, fade in second half, etc). Now is the time to put this right.

Great to read that Whisk still has the desire to push on with the Dolphins BUT is he the right player to lead on the pitch. I.M.H.O. he is not. There were numerous games this season when he was lacking in vocal leadership and encouragement on the pitch, when it was most needed. A very good player yes, but the team needs a captain of the "Michael Walker" ilk, to chivy them through difficult passages of play. If there isn't one in our current squad of players, hopefully T.K. will be placing such a player at the top of his wish list.
