I have often thought it wise to front load the seaosn with midweek games. This season, with the late start, it seemexd more important for everyone especially with the chance of anpother lockdown. The Southern League were handed a two gifts in the Premier South division with the vuluntary relegation of Blackfield and Langley. This left the league with an odd number of teams so each week one team had a free Saturday or Midweek. Just one week into the season, Merthyr withdrew from football for the season. Thus the league was now 2 teams short.
It would have been an almighty task BUT by rearranging the fixtures for the rest of the season and front loading the midweek fixtures, we could have been approx 30% through the season but it is less than 20%. The likelyhood is that there will be 32/33 games for each team to play after Xmas. So 18 weeks to play 32/33 games rather than the 28/29 it couild have been.

What I don't get about the fixtures, is why we are due to play Tiverton twice on 4th Nov(A) & 8th Dec (H). But we aren't playing Weston for the 1st time until April next year. Surely this season the importance of making sure everyone has played each other once asap is vital. That way you will have a table where everyone has played each other once & also played half the games. So a fair final table if the season can't be completed. Hopefully the Southern League will use this enforced mid season break to re format the fixtures, so on resumption, this can happen. That way promotion & relegation can take place based on these positions. We mustn't let the National League pull up the drawbridge like last season & not allow the natural order of football to proceed.

As much as it hurts me to say I can't see us playing another game after Tiverton away until the New Year , hopefully early January 2021

Otherwise the National League could say "sorry guys no promotion" & screw all clubs at this level again. Meaning we have to deny Step 5 clubs who want to gain promotion. Thus causing another season of stagnation, which isn't good for football at any level.
