Sensible decision It's a bit odd that I still haven't heard anything official so inevitably many people are asking why we didn't let people know first. I am asking that too :-) As soon as I hear from Bill I will advise and I will make sure twitter, facebook, website and forum are updated.

The question now has to be;
Can the club survive this?? this season i think even in the reddest of red and white hearts has to be written off as far as promotion goes. How do we go into next season with this millstone round our neck? because i think sooner rather than later the SL are going to be asking some awkward questions. Strange isn.t it that when you read the Echo website, sub-heading sports, Greyhound Racing does not appear yet this post war gambling phenom is still more important to Stadia UK and indirectly our political leaders than the survival of PTFC founded back in 1880!!

Perhaps, as a company running a business, which, by definition, aims to make more money than it spends, greyhounds & speedway are more viable than any other usage of the square metres. If you own land/property,you maximise your return from it.

Stadia UK do not own the it;they lease it from what was the Borough of Poole. The Borough of Poole Sports Arena was built between the wars as a sports facility for the citizens of Poole Whether field sports apart from Football were ever in evidence there i do not know. After the war came Speedway and then later the speedway track was moved inside to accommodate dog racing Is dog racing a sport(certainly not a participatory one from a human POV) Does it do anything to encourage local youth to engage in sport or aspire to represent their home town..? I am sure every football supporter loves the day when a home town player makes it into the First Team Squad IMHO its a pretty sad situation that is imperilling a Football Club with a long history Whats that old line about knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing

I've attempted not to post about the postponements, as I had so much grief last over the last couple of seasons when I stated my honest opinion that the state of the pitch and ground were costing us any chance of progressing as a club and getting promotion.
The weather has been atrocious, but yet again all the other clubs apart from Hartley Witney have managed to get matches on more regularly this season, so shrugging the shoulders and blaming the weather isn't good enough, and Hartley Witney is a village club after all, so them even competing at this level is a miracle..
We assembled a great squad three years ago, but the postponements cost us any chance of promotion and in the end we were playing loads of matches at the end of the season. So many people did not seem to realise that footballers with tired legs cannot play well two or three times a week and expect to produce wins against other clubs who are playing with seven days rest between fixtures. The club then went backwards because of that in my opinion; the disappointment of missing out on promotion because of fixture congestion would leave any player demotivated, and the following season, we understandably went backwards.
Now here we are again - just because I've not been posting, doesn't mean I haven't been looking at all the posts on this forum, and I feel it has to be said that without a new ground, this club cannot progress.
The end of the season will be a write off now - way too many matches to play - luckily we already have enough points to have any chance of being relegated, but realistically March and April will now be fixture after fixture - 17 league games scheduled between March 3 and April 25 - that is a staggering 17 games in 54 days. That of course assumes that we will not get any more postponements, but I guess we probably will, and it could mean a really silly fixture list for April I guess.
How do you motivate players for a club that year in year out gets behind every other club in terms of fixture backlog, how do you get good players to sign for you in that situation.
We need a new ground - Poole will go backwards otherwise. Groundshare and put in money for an upgrade at Hamworthy is one option. Groundshare with Dorchester, Weymouth, Wimborne or use Bournemouth's training facilities or anywhere else is a short term option I suppose - the Dorset FA has been mentioned too - wherever we go, it has to be better than this. Obviously the ideal is a new ground of our own, but I hope that Chris Reeves and everyone else get us out of here and to somewhere new.
I know money is a big issue, as the club has progressed quicker on the field than off it. As someone with no money or spare cash at all, and who thinks of our club surrounded by all the millionaires at Sandbanks, it is disappointing really that no sugar daddy or sugar mummy has stepped in to take control of our club. We have a great potential to grow, if money were put in.
We have a big population and Tom has shown the management skills to take us up the non-league pyramid, but how he motivates himself with all the chaos of postponement after postponement I do not know.
Anyway something radical needs doing, otherwise we will muddle through this season and be in the same boat next year and the year after.

I am led to believe that Poole speedway have voluntarily dropped down a league because their foreign riders can earn more racing on the continent. Poole greyhounds, under the same leadership as Swindon, survive largely on the income that they recieve through viewing rights. If one, or both, were to meet problems sometime in the future, then I guess that the BCP would start tinkering with the notion of flattening the site for redevelopment, the last remaining piece of land within the Town centre of any considerable size ( excluding Poole Park). The revenue raised would be a short term shot in the arm for council finances and Council officers could tender the excuse that because the public were not supporting activities, then they were left with no alternatives. This I believe is probably the number one reason why the football club is not wanted back at the Stadium.

Between the Wars there was a banked cycle track and Football at the stadium. The cycle track was removed for the speedway I beleive, which started in 1948

The WSM match v Met Police is also already off! Now I see that a further 4 matches are off those at Gosport, Hartley Whitney,Swindon, Taunton, and maybe more to follow. Thatsa total of 6 so far.
Update at 12.30 Harrow and Yate now postponed leaving just 3 matches on so far today. So it seems that Poole Town are are not any worse than other teanms in the league related to postponments!
All matches in the Cental division of the Southern League except one postponded

Council officers might also tender the excuse that 20 years of government cuts to local authorities have left council finances in an extremely parlous state. You may have hit the nail on the head Scorpio.
