This was one of several pre season friendly matches for the 1972-73 season after Poole had been relegated from the Southern Premier League to the Southern League Division 1 South, Dennis Walker was made player manager along with several new signings one being Ivan Hollett who had played for several football league clubs and was a renowned goal scorer, Poole lost the match 2 1 with Hollett scoring the only Poole goal, Team was Buck, Cannie, Rawlings, Banks, Bazeley (Presley) Walker, Rowen, Pegram, Allen, Hollett, Hill.

Was it played at Poole Stadium or TMU's old Sandy Lane ground? They moved into their current ground Imperial Fields in 2002. It might look like an old traditional ground but it ain't. Credit to the architects for that. Credit must also go to our host club on Saturday. When Dulwich Hamlet were having troubles with their landlord & were locked out of their Champion Hill home, TMU offered them the use of their stadium, despite the historic rivalry between the two clubs. In the spirit of Wolfie Smith it was really....POWER TO THE PEOPLE! Beating Hungerford was tough. But Saturday will be even tougher. TMU are 2nd in their league & are yet to lose in any competition this season. Unlike Hungerford they know how to win. Hopefully we will be successful but probably only after a replay. COYD 🐬

Ivan Hollett! That's a name that I haven't thought about in DECADES!
