Of course no-one is taking anything for granted but this is how the FA explain the system at Step 3 for this season only. The devil is of course in the detail. The team that finishes 5th, would play the 2nd placed team away. The winner would then play the winner of the 3rd v 4th match away in the League Final. The winner of the Southern League South Final would play the winner of the Isthmian League Final in the so called Super Play-Off Final. The home team in that game would be the team that got the highest points total in the regular season. So 5th place in our league would be away for two matches and then it would depend on the record of the Isthmian winners. We could end up with a better points total than 3rd, 4th and 5th in the Isthmian but the likelihood is that we would have to play all our games away from Tatnam, BUT if we get through to the Super Play Off final, there is the chance of another bumper day at the Black Gold.

Thanks John. Sixteen clubs compete for two promotion places. 8 to 1 is not good odds and twice the previous odds prior to the (in my opinion) unwise re-organisation of the SL. Thank goodness it’s only for one season. But what then one wonders? Meanwhile, who knows what drama will unfold. We must beat Staines first of course, something that (as far as I am aware) that we have yet to achieve. So COYD!

Are you sure this is still the format ? I’m sure I’ve read fairly recently that Conf South is expanding, so the Southern League playoff winners and Southern League Central playoff winners both get promoted...gives a 1 in 4 chance rather than 1 in 8. Will try and dig out where I got this info. Obviously good news for anyone who does end up in the playoffs.

The problem as things stand, of course, is that there are only six promotion places in the National League North and South divisions. Four of these must be filled by the champions of the four feeder leagues leaving only two more promotion places. I'll be very interested to know where you got the expansion notion from.

The only rational explanation is;
Poole Town will win Play-Offs
Dolphins fans must be cheered by the Teams fighting spirit and it is common for a couple of players to really shine in these circumstances. Who will our heroes be? I hope that the recent attendance figures are an indication of renewed interest in the Dolphins. WE CAN DO IT
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!!

It's from next season guys so for this season only we have the "Super Play-Offs". www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/latest-news/26667/non-league-restructuring-change-2020/

There you go. I was half right but yes, that doesn’t really help for this season I guess....Apologies for raising false hopes.

Yes the National League would only allow 4 down 4 up when they had 24 tram leagues so it screwed the Step 4 reorganisation. The next reorganisation will bring a new league at Step 4 then reorganisation of Step 5 and 6 to create a perfect pyramid.
Step 7 leagues will effectively become County leagues and not part of the pyramid.
