Tonight a thoroughly professional team performance from our talented u18 team beating A very good side from Woking 2-0 an og mid way through the 1st half sent us in at ht 1 up, in what had been a very entertaining even game, from the 2nd half after wise words from TK and Shaun Brooks the second half belonged to us but without the comfort of a 2nd goal the large crowd of over 100 were on tender hooks but 10 mins from the end after a great run from the edge of our 18 by Billy Lowes, Munday finished off to make the game safe, a very good evening all round we now play at home v Torquay in the next round in 2 weeks time actual TBC Well done to the whole team you did PTFC proud again.

I was so proud tonight.
Did our lads deserve this win our what! It could have been 4 or 5 so impressive. was our second half display. Great to see a very respectable crowd appreciating the lads performance - what a superb second goal, the run from Billy and the finish from Dan.
Awesome!
Bring on Torquay!!!!

I finished work and walked in midway through the 2nd half. I hope the Woking keeper is ok, didn't look good with his treatment and being carried off.
This past week I've seen the whole home vs Hereford, 2nd half of Hungerford and a part of the youth team vs Woking. Poole Town have a good set up and a friendly crowd.
DorsetBlue a Chester fan
(I went to the Hereford game because I dont like the way they tried to cheat along with Aldershot Town to send Chester down last season)

Great stuff boys! It says on PTFC Twitter that the game v Torquay is the 1st Round! There must be a lot of preliminary and qualifying rounds in the FA Youth Cup! Does anyone know how many rounds/teams are left in it?

all the info is here www.thefa.com/fa-youth-cup/fixturesthey are a great team to watch - I always fancy them against anyone, not only because of their football, but they also have a great spirit, and ability to keep going. they demoralised Woking last night with incessant fast, passing, incisive football and the opposition didn't know what hit them - great stuff.

Hi, Woking fan here, just a quick note to say well played last night, thanks for the hospitality and good luck in the next round against Torquay.
A disappointing result from our perspective with a below par performance in what was a close fought and very even contest - us having a bad day or you preventing us from playing is of course a much bigger debate. I felt that both sides worked hard and were disciplined out of possession and to a large degree therefore cancelled each other out, as a result clear cut chances at both ends were at a premium all night.
I felt Woking had the better of the earlier part of the first half, failing to take a couple of good early chances before Poole then shaded the rest of the half. 1-0 at half time, albiet via an own goal, was probably about right on the balance of play.
Second half followed a similar pattern, with Woking unable to generate a sustained level of attacking threat, and as with the first half, neither keeper was forced to work too hard. With an hour gone, and still trailing, we had to make a positive move and used all 3 subs in a forward thinking manner to try and create an attacking threat. Clearly that worked against us following the injury to our keeper. He was adamant he wanted to play on, both as captain, and knowing that we had used all our subs and the length of his resultant treatment had more to do with him trying to pursuade the physio to give him a painkilling injection in his ribs to make that possible than anything else. Ultimately the physio's view held out, no injection on the pitch and a departure by stretcher.
Down to 10 men and an outfield player in goal made it an uphill battle to get anything from the game, even the prospect of extra time would still have placed us at a disadvantage. Your second goal, a good cross from the right, headed home from close range by a suspiciously offside looking Poole forward, killed the game dead. Felt the referee generally performed well over the 90 minutes but that he was let down by both assistants, especially the one on the far, stand side, who were very poor.
In terms of our keeper, he has cracked a couple of ribs and was given painkillers and oxygen in the dressing room. He was however deemed fit enough to leave the ground on the team bus rather than being packed off to the local A&E department.

Cracking result and I hope work will not prevent me making the next round. The youth set up is proving to be invaluable. Well done lads we are all proud of you.
Nice comments from 'Oakie' and I can only wish your keeper a speedy recovery.

We are proud of our youth team but is is good to hear the opinion of oponents when it is well crafted and not just a whinge. Hope to see you have better luck next year and you are welcome at Tatnam any time.

Thanks John.
We have reached the 2nd round proper for the last two seasons so were disappointed not to make it that far this time around. Having had games at Fratton Park and Crawley Town in recent years I can say with experience that it is something for the boys to embrace and enjoy. Get a good crowd down to cheer your lads on against Torquay and then see what round 2 brings if successful - the big prize is of course the chance to draw Championship or Premier League opposition in Round 3 (ideally away - but not the really big sides because they dont use their main grounds until round 5). AFC Bournemouth at the Goldsands or Saints at St. Marys would I'm sure be seen as a great outcome.
