Seventeen goals - what a score. That's one every five minutes, hardly enough time to kick off before having to repeat the process!!

Seventeen goals - what a score. That's one every five minutes, hardly enough time to kick off before having to repeat the process!! All credit to our ladies team but I must say that when I was refereeing - if it was a youth or children's league rather than adults or women mind - I never let the score get to such levels! I don't think it's good for the game to have discouraging or humiliating scorelines in any matches! One ladies team, in Wales I think, has just disbanded after a series of heavy defeats! Many years ago with the score at 9-0 in an under 12's game I said to one youngster, "They won't get 10". After the game he asked me with some admiration how I knew that!
