A big thank you to all of you who voted recently to enable my son and a few of the reserves to represent "spurs" in the national lucazade premiership 5 a side comp held at Stamford bridge today a series of tasks set then voted on by you and the public, decided who would represent each of the premiership teams accordingly less Man Utd who don't have a deal in place with lucazade, the best runner up "Liverpool away" made up the 22, a glorious day on a pristine premiership pitch, started with 4 groups of 5 with the top two qualifying for the 1/4 finals each game was 15min.
Spurs were drawn in a group consisting of
WBA
Wolves
West Ham
Arsenal !!!!!
They started well winning all their games convincingly, beating The Gooners 3-2 being the highlight, they qualified as winners scoring 25 conceding only 5 the 1/4s saw them playing many peoples favourites "fulham" full of Brazilions they probably put on the best performance of the day winning 5-0 everyone now started to take notice of them, on to the Semi's against Blackpool, a narrow 2-1 win the winner coming with 30 secs left on the clock!!! The final saw them play A very experienced Man City team, in a game of 10min each way, during the game nearly everyone was suffering from cramp, tiredness, it had been a long haul!!! Full time withe scores level, it went to pen's!!!! The drama wasn't over each player in turn taking 5 first then sudden death, still nothing could separate them on and on it went first one player scored then another, finally Ryan Park pulled off a super save Spurs had won an epic 22-21 jubilant scenes in the large crowd followed by TV and promo interviews, just added to the occasion. The presentation took place at a gala dinner in the 5* star hotel in the evening the boys also had complimentary rooms for the night!!! The trophy was presented fittingly by Terry Venables. All the players won A Vvip package to a spurs game next season, magnificent Ind trophies , the full Spurs kit to keep and a massive cup, also a years supply of lucazade products. The whole day was superbly run, and the players all PTFC reserve players did themselves proud on a day none of them will forget. So thanks again to all you who helped them get there.
The players were: Ryan Park, Paul Bayston, Carl Chivers, Sam Beale, Robbie Woolner, and my youngest son Sam Bayston who in fairness was the guy who made it happen by doing all the tasks set.
A truly great end to a great season for the club, everyone knew they played for PTFC as they all used the Kit Bags from the club, I was surprised how many "opposition" new about our club, the Vase run, ground issues etc, very humbling.
Thanks again.
