Hi guys. Just to fill you in on a bit of bad news. My Missus lives in Library Road, just up from Branksome Rec. About ten minutes ago, she had a visit from some sad, lonely individual asking whether or not she was for or against the new stadium. When she said she was for it, the do-gooder, looking surprised and informed her that in that case her opinion was not needed. Apparently, he was carrying a petition as thick as your arm with anti-stadium signatures. Guess the locals, half of whom do not even use the rec, are more into walking through a dog turd strewn quagmire whilst being harangued by chavs, than they are in regenerating the area for the good of all of us. Grrr..........

as a follow on to this posting, I can strongly suggest viewing the items in Poole News on the Bournemouth Echo site. A couple of articles there have postings, mainly from people/residents against the scheme, as well as a few for. Brushing past some of the more hysterical comments, there are valid ones ie the potential parking problems. It gives an opportunity to listen to the other side of the argument.
I am convinced that Chris, the rest of the PTFC board & the Council are doing as much as they can to convince people of the positives of the proposal. As we realise from recent history, any relocation/new ground for PTFC would almost certainly be met with dissenters & opposition.
If only we had the money/backing to buy the stadium site & propose to build a completely new ground there! (closely followed by opposition from speedway/greyhound fans/local residents etc).

......I perhaps should add that some of the later postings on one of the articles has descended into a bit of a personal exchange of insults between a couple of the contributors, which does not add or help anything to the debate on either side. Best for the club (& ourselves) if we do not get involved in that, methinks.

I never noticed but a link to the first article is actually already on the 'home' page here, where the details about the printed leaflet are. Once there you can also view a video of the first public meeting, which I haven't been able to view as my (old) computer can't handle such things! Once there, if you click on Poole News in the column on the left, & scroll down, you will come to an article ''Battle Lines Drawn in £1 Million Rec proposal''. Reading other postings here, there should be another article printed during the week so should be worth checking back for this.

Could we put a down loadable petition form on the website so various groups or individuals can download a copy and then either deliver/send in?
