Last night saw Poole's start to the 'Elite' league campaign with an away win over 'newcomers' Birmingham Brummies: 48-42 Onward now to Mark Loram's Farewell meeting tomorrow evening... Well done Pirates! I am hopeful of getting to the Pirates v Wolves match on 6th April Steve. There seems to be a dispute about silencer safety and a Polish rider has been ruled out from the Poole team because of it. I can understand safety issues but speedway wouldn't be the same without the din would it? Brian, with the Polish rider now not racing, does this mean you will be leaving your Polish flag behind?

How did your evening with Loramski go last night Steve? Absolutely fantastic thankyou Rob!! As Mark's sponsors we saw the meeting from the pits thanks to Mark granting us two 'pit passes' The highlight for the evening has to be Mark taking his final laps of Wimborne rd complete with his race bib with our names on the rear!! See you over the weekend

A special guest came with us tonight, yes none other than the Morecombe legend himself and he even predicted a Poole 5-1 in one race which the locals enjoyed! A good nights entertainment had - cheers Brian...

Well it's been two weeks since the last update and there has been two meetings since and we have won one and lost one. We rode against Eastbourne at Arlington and lost 39-57 and then back at Wimborne road we beat Swindon Robins 50-42 last Wednesday. The team is gelling together well and it is obvious that there will be big changes once the up to date averages kick in. Last Wednesday also had a more serious side to it in that Christian Hefenbrock who is a young German riding in the reserve berth had an horrendous crash on the straight by the 'New' stand, he and our other rider at the time Dennis Andersson were basically competing for the same piece of dirt and he had just got ahead of Christian when his rear wheel slammed into Christian's front wheel and pushed his bike into the fence but Christian carried on but he was by now 'flying' in the air and hit the fence twice before landing in a heap. We all thought the worse but evidentally he has nothing more than bruising and cuts!!! He wants to ride next week to top it all!! Oh well Two meetings to go over this weekend as tonight they are away at Kings Lynn and tomorrow home to Eastbourne!

Just had a glance at the Pirates site Steve and I see it's very close in the "Elite (what a daft name!) League"! The morecambedolphin, who has never seen speedway, wants to come with me next time. That'll be in August. See you again soon.

A remarkable win for the Pirates at Belle Vue on Monday! I always tell people up here who know nowt about it that Poole Pirates are the Man Utd of Speedway - but without the opprobrium! Could go top tonight! Well, nearly - and with matches in hand!!

We have three matches in hand over Eastbourne... Just to let everyone know that at tonights 'Knock-out Cup' meeting against the Swindon Robins the charge for admission is only £10 for Adults and £2 for kids.. So if you have ever wanted to come and were put off by the price here is your chance. We are off to the Millenium Stadium on Saturday for the British speedway GP!!

We were there alright Brian!!!
Brian, Just to let you personally know that we will be going to the stadium Wednesday night instead of 'Sholing' as we would like to finish off the wonderful season we have had with the Pirates. You are both most welcome to join us in the 'usual place' on the first bend? We will also be there for the only encounter with Peterborough too the following week.... Will you be still down for Davey Watts Testimonial on the 29th? If so we may be able to 'get you in' as we are sponsoring that night!!!

Thanks Steve and Mandy. As you know I was at Sholing when the Brum match was on and we didn't make the testimonial. However, a special thank you from the morecambedolphin who saw her first ever Speedway match v Peterborough. She enjoyed it very much even though she thought there'd be a crash in every race and got hit by flying shale from time to time! Hope the Pirates (the Man U of Speedway?!) win the title this year!

Well, it looks like it could be a disastrous end to the season for the Pirates - thanks to accidents and injuries and the ridiculous play-off system Murdoch's Sky TV dictates!!

Gosh! An astonishing win puts Poole Pirates in the KO Cup Final. I take it all back. It could be a remarkable double after all. I have to add that I will lnever understand the machinations of 'rider replacement', 'reserves' and what happens to fill in for injuries in Speedway - much less how 'averages' affect all these!! Steve and Mandy - help!
