Unlike Saturday when Poole played well and lost, the Poole Town players failed to impress in this game and didnt play anywhere near the standards that they are capable of.
Some very scrappy defending for both the Alresford goals, although they werent helped but yet more terrible decisions by the awful match officials, but they also failed to keep hold of the ball when going forward and created very little.
Poole fans were given a glimmer of hope when Gary Funnell equalised midway through the 1st half with a cross/shot? into the top corner, and very nearly snatched a point when Carl Chivers shot across the face of the goal late on, however this was a poor performance against a poor Alresford team.
Unfortunately, Poole just cannot afford to drop any more points against this type of opposition if they want to achieve promotion. There is no doubt that Tommy has put together a good set of players, and it must be as frustrating for him as for all of the supporters, however some of the players are just not performing as we know that they can.

He was a sub for the 1st team last night, came on with about 20 minutes to go. Did pretty well, almost scored a follow up on the keeper and a shot across the face of goal.

Mark E - a fair summary, and you're spot on about Tom being as frustrated, if not more so, about players underperforming. It's a bit of a cliche, but we need as supporters to (1) trust him as manager to do what he thinks is necessary and (2) get behind the team on Saturday against Horndean - the support was also very flat at Alresford.
I'm afraid I won't be at the Horndean game - I'm in Belgium for the weekend, but will be checking our result at an Internet Cafe on Saturday evening (and probably posting some inane rubbish* if I've had too much Belgian beer by then).
PTFC - I'm not sure whether you meant Carl played for the reserves "last night" or "in general". If the latter, players can play for both (that being the whole point of a reserve team!); if you just meant the former, the reserves are playing tonight - I'm not sure whether Carl will play or not.
(*"More inane than this?" I hear you say)

I didn't think 9 gmes into the season I would be saying what no one wants to hear but- WHERE DO WE GO FROM HEAR? 5 x wins 3 x defeats ( should have been 4 I was at Bishops Waltham ) this is simply not good enough, the only reason we are still near the top is all the other teams seem poor. Yes as Doug says we must trust Tommy but something needs to happen quickly. Or we will still be in the same position this time next season.

I have to agree with you Benito that things really do have to improve otherwise I can see it being another season of "what ifs" and none of us want that. We have of team of players that need to start showing us how good they really are.
The support was flat against Alresford but in fairness the team gave us nothing to cheer about. My dad and I very rarely miss a game home or away but after last night's performance the car journey home was very quiet!!!!!!!!!
But we'll be back on saturday and hopefully Poole can demonstrate some "bouncebackability" and get three points.
