Pleased to hear news of a new striker this week. As Steve has already said, this may well be the last piece of the jigsaw as in many games Poole have dominated without putting away their chances. Have heard from several people now that the player in question, may well be the most talked about person on this message board over the summer, so should keep all of his fans happy !!
Looking forward to him firing us up the league!

Im a bit concerned . Firstly because, I presume this Striker seems to be Aaron Turner, I was the one who first ask the question about him and some others joining this season. That was a while ago now & he still hasnt signed. I hope we are not pining our hopes on a player who might not ever play for us. Especially speaking to some people at football this morning it seems that, if we are talking about Turner his signing is not a formality. Secondly Even if it is Turner our display against Shaftsbury shows that we dont just need a striker. Finally. Again If we have signed Turner I think its a bit soon to start hailing him as soom kind of Messiah. If its true he hasnt played for a year then surely we wont even see him in the first team for at least a month. And lets not forget some of the other signings that there was a fuss over, M. Welsh, J.Harvell, B.Asaba, A.Warrington, G.Morris to name a few that for what ever reason havent made an impact for the first team. It seems sometimes some of us get over-excited & expect so much then cant wait to start lashing the team and start threads like WDWGFH. A little bit of perspective required. Thoughts Doug, Steve?

For what it's worth, the Shaftesbury president described us as the best team they've played this season. We had one stone cold penalty turned down and another pretty good appeal ignored in the first half, and had luck and a very hard-working team against us in the second half. On another day, Gary Funnell's exquisitely chipped shot, Leigh Cornick's one-on-one shot and Anthony Warrington's header would all have gone in. I don't think anyone is "pinning their hopes" on any one player (who in any case could only fire us up one place at the most, based on today's table!).
By the way, I think Matt Welsh has had a pretty good impact on the first team.

I would agree with Doug that Matt Welsh has generally been excellent at the back so far this season. We were also missing Matt Hayfield at Shaftesbury who was the man of the match in the win over Romsey and played really well against Liss (and scored 2 goals in 2 games).

I agree with what you said we weren't poor by any means I just think that theirs maybe to much hype about one player if he comes in and we still not topping the league or even worse lower down the table the daggers will be out. But I will be honest and say that in my opinion Shaftbury are by no means quality side. And despite being unlucky I think we should be beating teams like that. As for Mat Welsh im undecided

I also think that Matt Welsh has done very well for us this season so I think any criticism of him is unfair. I don't want to criticize any player on this site but I do believe that we should be beating teams like Shaftsbury if we going to achieve what we all want promotion.
If we do sign Aaron Turner then I think it can only be beneficial to the club.We need to have competition for places and at the moment I don't think we have that in the centre forward position.
Hopefully after tomorrow nights game Saturday will be long forgotten, fingers crossed!!!
