I sat in front of our away fans in the first and the second half, shooting the game. First half was fine loads of banter, ripping into the stewards, all taken in a happy festive mood, all good fun.
However, second half was totally different. Obscene language and in particular the C word. It went on and on and on. C word used at the linesman, at players at everybody. Chants using the C word, it was disgusting. The steward warned the Poole fans not to use the C word again and it did have an effect. I have been following league and non league football for many a year, today was not good, not a good advert for the club/town.

Agree with Cheeso. It used to be so good behind the goal away from home and not one expletive was needed. The RWA was applauded for it. How times have changed. Maybe those banned from Tatnam have a hand in the away behaviour?

Sorry but I can't help with names or identification, I had my back to them apart from when the female steward went across and told them to stop using the C word. She even got abuse about being male or female! I just know where the group was the obscenities were coming from.
If any of the lot have issues with me then please come and talk to me at Wimborne.

I accept there will be swearing, but do not drop the C bomb!

I have followed the Cherries since the sixties, been to far too many grounds with them to mention but Burnley, Millwall, Reading, Gillingham spring to mind. I have been with the lads abusing refs, players, whoever with the F word at worse. Never, never though was the C word used en mass. I am ex Army, played rugby and can swear with the best. However, what I heard on Boxing Day is something I had never heard before and have to say totally unacceptable.

No offense intended here but a little hypicritical to think its ok to go around the country abusing players and refs with the f word and then start moaning cause some young lads start chucking the c bomb in,im not defending the use of the c word there should be no place in public for it,just like abusing players and refs with the f word,i dont see the difference personally. We had a couple of players one in particular a few years back that was constantly chucking the c bomb in and for a while that wasnt addressed sp its not just the fans that use it

If so I often had a go at him over his language and you are right there is too much offensive language on the pitch too. However one voice on the pitch in the heat of the moment is NOT the same as the premeditated chanting the C-word excessiveyl after too many drinks In some grounds once is enough to get you ejected.

We had a couple of players one in particular a few years back that was constantly chucking the c bomb in and for a while that wasnt addressed sp its not just the fans that use it I understand what you are saying and to a point I concur. Football as we know is emotional and when things don't go your way, say a bad decision goes against you and it costs you a play off spot or gets your team relegated, you will react. With the best will in the world you are not going to shout " I say old chap, think you got that decision horribly wrong!" or maybe "What the devil were you thinking then, he was a mile offside, me old mate" Swearing happens, it is part of life. However, certain words to me, should not be used. You have to remember the crowd is not made up of young lads who have had to many beers before a game. Many children attend, some really ones. You need to think of them. You need to think of the impression it gives people of YOUR club. Poole is not a Napoli with its band of Ultras or an Eastern European side with Nazi saluting hordes. It is a small friendly non league club trying to attract a new fan base, with a Premier League side a few miles down the road. Trust me, with the chanting that went on Boxing Day how many people will more think more highly of Poole than they did before the match? Every club needs it's hard core noisy chanting fans, it is what the game is about. There is nothing better than hearing some funny chants, it's brilliant, cracks me up. Just needs to be done without a constant barrage of the C word.

I totally agree with you my point is or was is that if the c word should not be used around children at football then nor should the f word, self control should be used for all foul language aimed at refs linos and players or the singing of chants.

I do agree there is no place for the foul language at matches but self control should be taken by those off the pitch and on it,lots of players dont use foul language refs should book more and stewards should warn fans over their language but all very difficult to police i know

In an ideal word yeah, spot on. Unfortunately the ideal world does not exist. You hear it on the tv effects mics, 'The referee's a W****R! etc. being dished out by 30,000 fans, it will not go away. It's down to what is 'acceptable' and what is not I suppose. Life and language has moved on. Nowadays a 10 or 11 year old says "Oh my God" and people, including some parents don't bat an eyelid, it's the norm today for many. When I was a kid I was never allowed to say that or Christ. I was not brought up in a religious house by the way, just what was acceptable then to nowadays.

Yes things have changed but let's be fair, the English Dictionary has more words in it than the dictionaries of any other language. It is easy to find an appropriate word without resorting to the C or F bombs. I agree that the players have their part to play but in recent times I think things have imporoved.
In most public places, "those" words are unnacceptable and at an event attenmded by all ages it is unnacceptable. Do I swear, yes when it slips our (ooh er missus) but I don't use the C word ever.
Most of us have visited the bigger clubs in the area and have been appalled at what is acceptable there. Weymouth can be unpleasant (my other half will not go there now), Salisbury is absolutely appalling. That does not mean we have to judge ourselves by the same standards.

Book them and if the game has to be abandoned so be it. Then let the Clubs deal with the off field antics.

Absolutely John regarding language change, been saying the same for years. A few hundred years ago and I would greet you with something like "Forsooth fine fellow, how fair thee kind sir this fine day?" Now it would "Hi ya, you alright mate?"

go on then, ban the very “yoof” that sing from start to finish every game, travel to almost every away game and always support the lads in providing what is by far the best atmosphere in the league away from home, do that and the players will complain the fans are nutse and our support is bad. clueless to think you’re ever gonna kick swearing out of football #PTFC
